In accordance with Bavarian Local Government Law, Nuremberg City Council comprises 70 members. The municipal election results of 2 March 2008 for the legislatiove period between 1 May, 2008, and 30 April, 2014, returned the SPD as largest party group with 32 seats. The CSU has 23 seats, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen 5 seats. The FDP (2 seats), the Nürnberger Bürgerliste – Freie Wähler Nürnberg (1 seat) and the ÖDP (1 seat) formed a party group for committee purposes. The Linke Liste Nürnberg is represented by three members. The BIA was returned with 2 seats. The voters' association "Die Guten" has one seat. Dr. Ulrich Maly (SPD) is Lord Mayor of Nuremberg. His deputies are second mayor, Horst Förther (SPD), and third mayor, Dr. Klemens Gsell (CSU).
