The Imperial Castle Museum was opened as a branch of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum (GNM) in March 1999. The focus of the permanent historical exhibition on about 300 square metres is on the building history and importance of the Imperial Castle as well as on the development of arms technology. With 200,000 visitors every year, Nuremberg's Imperial Castle is one of the city's main cultural historical attractions – next to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum and the Documentation Centre Party Rally Grounds.
